Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation program has a simple goal – to return you to the highest possible level of independent living.

To help you achieve that, we offer medically supervised, progressive exercise and education for people diagnosed with chronic lung conditions, including:

  • COPD
  • Emphysema
  • Asthma
  • Chronic Bronchitis
  • Interstitial Lung Disease
  • Post-Lung Transplant
  • Post-Lung Reduction Surgery
  • Bronchiectasis

Every individual has an exercise routine designed specifically for them, based on their needs and abilities. During each activity, your vital signs and oxygen levels are closely monitored.

The benefits of Pulmonary Rehabilitation range from development of healthy habits and improved physical conditioning to decreased shortness of breath and a reduced need for hospitalization. Many of our patients experience an increase in self-confidence, more ability to perform their daily activities, and a better quality of life overall.

Education services focus on teaching patients about Chronic Lung Disease and self-management of symptoms that accompany breathing problems. We also help you understand breathing techniques, energy conservation, stress reduction, nutrition, and the use of equipment and medications.

We believe a team approach creates the greatest success. So our team is made up of

  • Your personal physician
  • The Medical Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department
  • Registered Nurses
  • Respiratory Therapists
  • Exercise Specialists
  • Dietician

To enroll, you will need a referral from your physician. A Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) may also be required. To determine your specific requirements, just contact our program.

Most insurance companies cover Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Our staff will be happy to assist you with insurance and billing questions, please contact the Wellness Center at 706-320-3790.
