We are comprised of a collection of physical therapists, occupational therapists and athletic trainers with a common interest in rehabilitation of the shoulder and elbow.  We promote improved clinical care based on basic science, knowledge of surgical procedure and clinical research.  We support critical assessment and encourage professional growth through mentorship, fellowship, and education.  We are committed to the ideas of open-mindedness and sharing of knowledge and promote excellence in patient care by all.

ASSET members are a leading source of knowledge regarding exemplary clinical care and outcomes oriented research in shoulder and elbow rehabilitation.  ASSET's aim is to assist therapists through the dissemination of our education and research knowledge.  Our membership criteria reflect the expectation of the highest quality research, scholarship and patient care.  We meet annually in conjunction with the Annual closed meeting of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). This meeting includes the fundamentals of research and scientific research projects, which are in progress or completed by members. Shoulder specialists from around the world present the educational programming.  The thrust of this education is to present clinically relevant information, which is scientifically based but clinically valuable in rehabilitating patients.
