Welcome Message from the Program Director and Leadership
Welcome to the Psychiatry Residency program at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare in Columbus, GA. We are proud to have established a new four-year categorical psychiatry residency program, accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. Our inaugural training program will start in July 2023.
Our program’s mission is to prepare psychiatrists to be excellent clinicians who will be leaders in our communities. Our goal is to attract applicants who are enthusiastic, work independently, and are compassionate about patient care. While in our residency program, we will help the applicants to grow professionally and personally to achieve their goals. We are interested in applicants who are passionate about the field of psychiatry.
We have designed our training for psychiatrists to become competent in multiple healthcare systems, both academically and clinically. Our residents will train in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy and in neuromodulation. They will learn to treat the patient as a whole person in a collaborative care model. Our community is very diverse ethnically, culturally and socioeconomically and we believe this will be a great asset of our training program.
We are very proud to collaborate in our training with Emory Psychiatry Department and Residency Program, Mercer University School of Medicine, West Central Georgia Regional Hospital, Pastoral Institute. To diversify our training further, we are planning to expand to other local healthcare organizations.
Columbus, GA is ready to welcome you to our community for the next four years and beyond.
